Sonny’s is most famous for its Italian Burritos (extremely delicious) which are very similar to a calzone but thicker with pizza toppings of your choice stuffed inside burrito-shaped pizza dough.

Although their burritos are excellent, I went with my favorite item: Taco Pizza. You really don’t find many taco pizzas out their anymore and Sonny’s definitely makes the best.

The pizza is served as a thin crust pizza and features a bean and ground beef mixture on top of it. The topping on the pizza come with lettuce (and I hope you like lettuce, because it comes with a lot), tomatoes, peppers, olives, shredded cheese and salsa.

The pizza has a unique flavor combination that you wont find anywhere else. The Taco Pizza has an authentic Mexican taste that has been ingeniously combined into an Italian/pizza that just comes out perfect. It is very filling and I promise you it will be something you will want to come back for.

Food Rating: 5 out of 5 Pepperonis Up!

Service
Sonny’s has recently acquired new owners, and much like the old ones, the service was great. The workers are very friendly and concerned about the quality of their food. They love to know what you think about it and were pretty quick on getting the food out.

Service Rating: 5 out of 5 Pepperonis Up!

Atmosphere
The atmosphere of Sonny’s has never really been all that, and since the new owners, I have noticed a difference for the worse. The old décor has been taken down and strung back on the walls in random spots (some walls kind of bare and some filled with crap). The place also seemed to have kind of a dirty feeling to it as well. Its not the most disgusting atmosphere by far that I’ve been too, but things could be better with a little effort.

Atmosphere Rating: 1 out of 5 Pepperonis Down

Overall: 11 Out of 15

Sonny’s Pizza
5145 Main St # J
Zachary, LA 70791
(225) 658-2458

Fleur De Lis Pizza

http://www.eatrouge.com/7/post/2009/03/fleur-de-lis-pizza.html

http://www.eatrouge.com/7/post/2009/03/fleur-de-lis-pizza.html#comments

Uncategorized

At first glance (or even a stare), Fleur De Lis seems to be a vacant old dump. The bright pink building really grabs your attention, and for those who know all about this place, its what’s cooking on the inside that reels you in.

Today I was in the pizza mood, and what better place than EatRouge's Best Pizza Restaurant for 2009: Fleur De Lis. I decided to split the large sausage, hamburger, and pepperoni pizza with my girlfriend.

The pizza is square and features a thin crust that isn't really crispy but more like hand tossed. It has a rich flavor that taste great, but is thin and modest enough to bring out the flavors from the toppings.

The toppings on the pizza where excellent. The meat was fresh like it was grounded and cooked to order. The sauce has a great taste to it also. It’s not too sweet, and blends well with the rest of the pizza. Altogether, the food was terrific and these guys know how to make a great pizza. I want more!!!!!

Food Rating: 5 out of 5 Pepperonis!

Service
The service was great. It didn't take long at all and the waitress did a great job checking on us and was very nice.

One thing to note is that Fleur De Lis does not accept credit cards or checks. Bring your cash or you'll end up having to wash dishes to pay for that pizza (What's cash? I haven’t used that stuff in years).

Service Rating: 4 out of 5 Pepperonis Up!

Atmosphere
I'm sure at one time this was a nice place, but all that was thrown out of the window years ago. If Fleur De Lis didn't make such a great pizza, nobody would step foot in this place. I know it has character, but I kind of felt like I needed a Tetanus shot after leaving this place. Definitely a no frills zone. It's all about the pizza.

Atmosphere Rating: 1 out of 5 Pepperonis Down

Overall: 10 Out of 15

Fleur De Lis Cocktail Lounge
5655 Government St
Baton Rouge, LA 70806
(225) 924-2904
www.fleurdelispizza.com‎
