In the mood for Philly cheese steak? Then South of Philly is the best place for you to find it. I had first reviewed this place about a year ago and have been hooked ever since.
Today I visited South of Philly for lunch to order my usual Tiger Steak combo. The Tiger Steak is a 7" Philly that has been spiced up with jalapenos and seasoning. On the side are the "Best Fries in baton Rouge" (and you can quote me on that).
What makes South of Philly's cheese steaks so great is its authenticity. They are always cooked to order and steaming hot. They also use quality meats and ingredients that make their steaks the best by far in the area.
The second thing that makes this restaurant so special is the fries as I mentioned before. I'm not sure exactly how they are cooked, but you can definitely tell they are thinly cut from fresh potatoes. Very greasy and so delicious! Definitely not for the health conscious person.

Service
South of Philly always has excellent service no matter how busy they are. From the moment you walk in, the staff is very welcoming and pays close attention to all its customers. It has never taken more than about five minutes for me to get my food once it’s ordered. Another great trait about the service is that they are always wanting feedback from the customers. Every time I go to South of Philly, the staff (from manger to bus boy) ask how my food is and is there anything they can get for me.

Atmosphere
The atmosphere is a constant change at South of Philly. Though it has improved one thousand percent from its opening, I really feel that they will never be able to break the chains of this place looking like an old seafood restaurant. Nothing about this place really says "Philly Cheese steak restaurant". However, the overall atmosphere in the restaurant is still nice and comfortable. The restaurant is spotless and also features a nice little bar area (my traditional seating area) to watch some sports while munching down.

As me a friend was riding down Sherwood Forest today, we spotted Schlotzsky’s Deli and decided to go ahead and give it a try since we were in the mood for a sandwich.
I tried the Angus Beef & Cheese Sandwich combo on sour dough with Cracked Pepper chips. This was the most-bland sandwich I have ever eaten, which is very unusual for a sandwich with made with sourdough bread. The bread didn’t have that classic sour taste that I love and the Angus beef and cheese really had no taste. It tasted unseasoned.
I ate a few bites and decided to sprinkle some salt and pepper on it. That did nothing for the taste (or lack there of) either. After that, I had one option left…hot sauce. I splashed hot sauce on the sandwich, around the sandwich and even on me. After that my sandwich just tasted like chewable hot sauce.
Just to give something a good review, the Crack Pepper chips was very good and my friend was The Original (Schlotzsky’s version of the muffalata) was descent.

Service
The service was descent. The girl behind the counter was very shy and didn’t communicate well with customers but the food was prepared quickly.

Atmosphere
The atmosphere was nice. I like to think of Schlotzsky’s as an upscale Subway or Quizno’s. It was very clean, not too loud and a comfortable eating enviroment.
